A bourbon trail you can complete in a QUICK weekend!
Here’s your Friday getaway:
a quick, weekend bourbon trail
Drive time: 5 hours round trip
This trip is perfect for travelers:
who love bourbon.
How long does it take to do the Weekend Bourbon Trail?
It takes 2.5 hours to get from Nashville to the start of this Weekend Bourbon Trail. News flash: you don’t have to drive all the way to Louisville to do a whiskey trail!
There are so many distilleries to visit in Kentucky. You could make a bourbon trail trip last for weeks if you wanted! There is an official Kentucky Bourbon Trail map. It is much longer than this weekend version that centers in on Bardstown, Kentucky, the bourbon capital of the world!
If you’re ready to do a Kentucky Bourbon tour but don’t have weeks to give to exploring the official trail, try this route. By following this bourbon trail map, you will have one of the best Kentucky Bourbon Trail Tours that your weekend will allow.
When is the best time to tour the Bourbon Trail?
Most Kentucky bourbon distilleries are open year-round, 7 days a week. They may have odd days here and there when there are closures (especially with COVID-19), but for the most part, you can visit during any season.
No matter when you choose to go, be sure to call ahead before traveling to see if reservations are preferred or required at each distillery.
Where should I eat on the weekend Bourbon Trail?
Since this particular Weekend Bourbon Trail is short on time, we tried to recommend some distilleries that also have restaurants on-site. We’ll note them below. Be sure to call ahead and see if reservations are required or preferred prior to your visit!

How far is the Bourbon Trail from Nashville?
The start of this bourbon trail is the Jim Beam American Stillhouse, which is 2.5 hours drive from Nashville.
How much does it cost to do the Kentucky Bourbon Trail?
It depends. How many in your party are participating in tastings? Are you doing tours at every stop? But if we were to give you a ballpark number: a weekend could start at $500 for two people, which does not include food and gas, but would include an overnight stay & tastings at every stop. You could definitely reduce that cost, depending on what you do at every distillery and where you stop to eat.
Where should I stay for the Bourbon Trail?
While there are many Bourbon Trail hotels, we recommend a bed and breakfast called The Hill House. It’s close in proximity to the bourbon distilleries on the Weekend Bourbon Trail route. And they serve breakfast daily and have awesome reviews!
