Take a drive three hours Northeast and you’ll be near the Daniel Boone Forest in Kentucky. There, you’ll find Woodson Bend Resort located on the cliffs of Lake Cumberland.

It’s a gated-community with 24-hour security, overlooking the lake.
The resort’s condos are privately-owned; some are rented out as vacation rentals.
Try and book a condo with a lake view. You won’t be disappointed!!
There is no beach access from the resort, so it’s not a great spot for swimming.
There is a marina; if you are a boat-owner OR plan to rent a boat, it is an ideal location.
There are many amenities on-site including a swimming pool, seasonal restaurant, tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts, playground, driving range, and 18-hole golf course.
Quiet and tucked away, cell phone service may be spotty.

There are many things to do in Somerset, KY, about 15 minutes away from Woodson Bend. There are stores, restaurants, and a movie theater. There is also a local drive-in movie theater, 27 Drive-In, and SomerSplash Waterpark.

Why is it a perfect getaway?
It’s peaceful atop the peninsula where the Woodson Bend Resort is situated. It has beautiful views and nature all around, including deer. Because most owners have golf carts, vehicle traffic is very minimal and the streets are safe for long walks or playing games outside with the kids.

Beware of swimming after a storm.
When we went, there was a lot of debris in the water, logs and other floating items, from a storm a few days before. Two travelers in our party experienced skin irritation post-trip. I would not recommend swimming if there has been a recent storm due to the debris and possible run-off that may make swimming hazardous.
