Drive time: 3 hours 49 min
This trip is perfect for travelers:
who enjoy historical museums, unusual touristy spots, and family-friendly getaways.
What makes this Kentucky attraction unique?
The sheer size of the Ark Encounter is astounding. Built to the specs of the ark as detailed in the Bible, a gargantuan-sized boat is an understatement. You can see the ark replica from a distance as you drive into the theme park; it is only then that you realize what an undertaking this ark exhibit must have been.
The ark encounter is clearly Christian-focused.
The folks responsible for the Ark Encounter are also behind the Creation Museum, a sister attraction.
Here’s what else you need to know.
If the faith-based stories of Noah and the flood, Genesis, or the creation story offend you, you probably will not enjoy a visit to this museum. Try this trip instead!
If the stories in the bible have personal meaning to you, then you will probably find joy in seeing the stories come to life.
The ticket counter and parking area is quite a distance away from the site of the park; visitors should expect to take a short charter bus ride.
Ticket prices are pricey. Adult tickets are $48 and children are slightly less, with children ages 4 and under admitted for free.
Visitors can explore the many levels within the ark. They can read exhibits, watch informative videos, and listen to animatronic biblical figures recounting ancient tales.
One of the highlights of the whole experience was the Ararat Ridge Zoo, which is located on-site. Entrance to the zoo is included in the cost of your Ark ticket. You can pet and feed a variety of exotic animals.
There are dining options on-site from food trucks to a buffet-styled restaurant, as well as, snacks in the gift shop.
Add a thrill-ride to your Noah’s ark experience by purchasing zip line tickets. With 24 different courses, there is an adventure for almost every aged traveler. Additional admission fees are required. Read the restrictions and requirements prior to reserving your ticket.
